In early February, Mark Amerika visited the Northwest of the United Kingdom as part of a research trip connected to the development a new work of art co-commissioned by Abandon Normal Devices and the Storey Gallery. The new artwork, part of Amerika's series of experimental mobile cinema works, will manifest itself in the region in 2011 and 2012 in conjunction with the London 2012 Olympics.
While in the UK, Amerika visited Cornerhouse in Manchester, FACT Liverpool and Tate Liverpool. Accordig to Mark, he attended the Nam June Paik retrospective and wrote about it in his Professor VJ blog. Entitled "My Video Relations," the blog playfully connects the work of Nam June Paik to Amerika's forthcoming book on how artists are using digital media to develop a new theoretical approaches to what he terms remixology.
